Wintersail 2008
11th -13th July Wintersail returns to Albert Park Lake. With enough water in the lake Albert Park Yacht Club will once again host Wintersail. Wintersail is a three day winter school holiday junior coaching program which has run for many years. It is open to Junior sailors of all abilities with the opportunity to improve their sailing skills and have fun. Entry is only available online and the links are on the Yachting Victoria website under ‘upcoming events’ and on the Sailing Team website under ‘future events’ Entry will close at 5pm Monday 7th July . Boat storage will be available in the APYC yard and The Boat Shed Yard (old Jolly Roger building). Lunch orders will be available plus a full canteen each day. Go to www.vic.yachting.org.au

2009 Minnow Nationals
Dates have been confirmed for the 2009 Minnow Nationals being held at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron. The event will run from Tues 6th January to Sunday 11th January 2009. The NOR will be finalised and distributed to interstate associations soon.

Minnows dominate at YV Junior Regatta, Chelsea
The YV Junior and Youth Regatta was held at Chelsea Yacht club in early April. The minnow class achieve great results. Overall six minnows finished in the top ten, which proves what a great training class the minnow is! For a full report on the regatta click the more button.

2008 Victorian Novice State Championships
The 2008 VIC Novice State titles were held on Sunday, 9th March at Blairgowrie Yacht Club in light winds, which was a change from the blustery conditions at McCrae two weeks before. The Minnow Association would like to thank Blairgowrie for hosting the event Jamie Taylor took out first place in Division A sailing Checkmate followed by Adam Kudnig 2nd and Hayden Harding 3rd, and May Warner in Never Give Up, was 1st in Division B. 2008 Victorian State Minnow Championships - McCrae Yacht Club - 23rd & 24th February 2008 RESULTS
The Channel 7 Victorian State Minnow Championships were held at the McCrae Yacht Club on the weekend on the 23rd and 24th Feb in strong, blustery conditions. The open fleet was won by local McCrae sailor Tom Vincent sailing Shaddow. Congratulations. Following Tom was Lachlan Imeneo, McCrae, then Tess Lloyd SSCBC and Parkdale, then Mitchell Cittadini SSCBC, then Jack Jessup SSCBC. Sam Hannah, SSCBC was awarded the 2008 Junior Victorian Champion. The Novice fleet and some juniors were at the mercy of the gale warning and unfortunately, racing was abandoned for them. For full results click on link below.

2008 Australian Minnow Championships - Rockingham results
Well done to our sailors at the Rockingham regatta. A sensational effort from our Victorian sailors, with 4 of the top 5 being from down south. The top 5 overall in the open division were - 1st-James Oliver

Have you renewed your Minnow membership for 2008?
Annual Minnow Membership Fees are due to be paid on the 1st of January each year. Any sailors wishing to compete in the Nationals or any other Association events must be financial before they compete. Please ensure that fees are paid asap and combined with other payments or any outstanding payments,to minimise the administration work required by our treasurers and to ensure there are no hassles at the Nationals. Costs are $50 for a sIngle and $70 for a family membership. Please include with your payment details of skippers, name, DOB, boat name, sail number,email address and contact number plus a stamped self addressed envelope. Please forward to Sally Hannah PO Box 149 , Albert Park. 3206 MSA application forms can be found on this website by clicking on the Membership tab on the left of this page.

Tim Hannah - Yachting Victoria Junior Sailor of the Year (again!!!)
At the Yachting Victoria awards, Tim Hannah (SSCBC) was once again announced as the Junior Sailor of the Year. This is an outstanding achievement as it is Tim's 2nd consecutive year as Junior Sailor of the Year - what an honour. Tim is a former Minnow sailor of some reknown and with results such as these, no wonder. National Champion 2004 & 2005, Australian Junior champion 2004, 2004NT & 2005, Victorian Champion Junior & Open 2004. Tim then moved to Sabots and became National Champion in 2006 in an exceptionally competitive fleet. Tim is also the 2007 Victorian Optimist Champion. Congratulations Tim on your award - another sensational effort.
